• All rising sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students who live in Virginia Beach and attend public, private or home school have equal access to the application process.
  
• Each component, the student application, signed parent form, and the two teacher recommendations, must be returned to the Gifted Resource Teacher at the student’s school prior to February 1, 2008. All students must meet the criteria for gifted identification in order to be considered for placement at Kemps Landing Magnet School.
  
• All applications will be subjected to a screening process; information to be considered will include overall grades, standardized test scores, and teacher recommendations. Additionally, tests will be administered as a part of the admissions process.
  
• Applicants who are not currently enrolled in VBCPS MUST attend a testing session at Old Donation Center on February 23, 2008. Students will be given two tests. These students also must meet the criteria for gifted identification in order to be considered for placement at Kemps Landing Magnet School.
  
• Copies of the student’s transcripts and the current report card must be submitted with the application for students not currently enrolled in the Virginia Beach City Public Schools. Completed applications for students not currently enrolled in the Virginia Beach City Public Schools must be mailed to:

• Parents or legal guardians will be notified in writing if their child has been selected for admission, placed on a waiting list, or not recommended for placement.
  
• Applications may be downloaded from this web site. The application form is also available at Kemps Landing Magnet School, Old Donation Center for the Gifted and Talented, or any public elementary or middle school in the city of Virginia Beach.
